THE KARULL

On the Tyrarchy’s walking cities the Karull are talked of in fearful voices. Propaganda paints them as inhuman terrorists, emerging from the wastes to threaten Mitick Cities with raids and the brutalisation of their people. In reality the Karull are a nomadic people who want to live apart from the cities, but the scarcity of resources and the need for materials only obtainable from the city dwellers brings them into frequent conflict.

To live in the open spaces of Neo Plasia, where the air itself strips unprotected lungs in mere hours, the Karull have had to adapt in extreme ways. From head to toe every Karull is melded with an artificial epidermis. Living with no part of their bodies uncovered and their faces concealed at all times has led to many quirks within Karull society. Identities can be as hereditary as a Kydar’s face mask, emotions are expressed through hand movements, and a whole host of bizarre mental aberrations stemming from their lack of physical contact with the world.

In battle, the Karull are rightfully feared for their hit and run tactics. Their adaptations to the environment and familiarity with the terrain allows them to strike from unexpected angles, picking off targets with long-range weaponry or striking up close with razor-sharp mezzar blades, before vanishing back into the swirling chemical smog, leaving only blood and confusion in their wake.
